Bill’s Message to Voters in NC-13^th Congressional District

Greetings to the voters in this very important U.S. Congressional District.  The total number represented here is about a half-million.  Geographically, the District stretches (roughly) from the northern-third of Wake county, northward to Granville county (except most of Oxford), then westward along the VA-NC border: Person, Caswell and Rockingham counties (except SW Rockingham county).  Along the way, the district dips down to pick up a sliver of Alamance county (down to Graham), as well as down into north Guilford county (to pick up precincts in Greensboro).  This is gerrymandering.

Here is what the Guilford Libertarian Examiner (Megan Russell) had to say: “In January 2009, Slate Magazine found that North Carolina has the most gerrymandered districts in the entire United States.  Gerrymandering is when state legislatures divide districts so that one party is preferred over another. We have former NC State Senator Brad Miller to thank for how this Congressional District is drawn.  He chaired the committee that drew the new (NC-13^th) Congressional district after the 2000 Census.  Here’s a map to show my political opponent’s work of art:

But my political opponent’s actions since he became a Congressman have gotten worse… MUCH worse.  Many in this Congressional district feel that he does not represent their interests.  Most feel he is out of touch, and the fact that he votes with Nancy Pelosi 95% or more of the time says it all.

With me, you’ll see what I will stand for (and will fight for) should you entrust me with representing you in the U.S. Congress.  Things you can look for me to bring are:

• Creating economic growth
• Cutting government spending
• Restoring a free market economy
• Strengthening and increasing jobs in the PRIVATE sector
• Eliminating unnecessary government intrusion in our lives
• Lowering the tax burden (on individuals and businesses)
• Improving national security (including securing our borders)
• Keeping the right priorities of national defense (home and abroad)
• Standing as a staunch, unwavering supporter of the nation of Israel
• Advocating and emphasizing a return to PERSONAL responsibility
• Repealing bad health care legislation; bringing more practical alternatives
• Clearly defining and supporting the mission of our deployed military forces

I ask that you keep tracking the progress of this important U.S. Congressional race.  With your help, financial support and prayers, we will emerge victorious in November 2010.  Let’s get excited, and do what it takes to bring the voice of the people back to Washington D.C.
