The Middle East is a pivotal region in the cause of world peace, and has been so for centuries. Long before the nation of Israel was founded different ethnic, tribal and religious groups have waged war among themselves. In more modern times many of these hostilities have been moderated as nation states have sought to maximize their oil and natural gas wealth, and gain influence, both in the region and throughout the world.
Peace in the Middle East is a crucial interest for the United States, not only because of our present dependence on the natural resources of the region, but because destabilization could not be easily contained, and could likely spread across the globe.
As a member of Congress I will always consider Middle East matters in the widest context. I will not support appeasement efforts or those that grant expedient accommodations to one entity or another, when the cost of doing so jeopardizes regional security.

The nation of Israel is a strong ally of the United States and should always be acknowledged as such by giving them our unwaveringly support. Any threat or action against Israel should always be viewed as an identical action against the USA.
Our support of Israel is a reflection of our own liberties and freedoms. As the only democratically controlled government in the Middle East, Israel believes in inalienable rights of man endowed through God. Their freedom must be supported and our relationship strengthened through our common pursuit of liberty. |

Iran is unquestionably a sponsor of global terrorism, with proven ties to supplying insurgent radicals in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is imperative that the United States and international community take strong steps to prevent the Iranian regime from acquiring a nuclear weapon. All options to prevent such an occurrence must remain on the negotiating table.
The goal of a stable and peaceful Middle East cannot be achieved with Iran actively fueling or accommodating Hamas, Al Qaida, Hezbolah and other radical militants in the region with cash, personnel and weapons. Strength must be the spine of our diplomacy and the radical factions in Iran must believe we are serious.
